The University of Torino has about 70.000 students, 4.000 academic, administrative and technical staff, 1800 post-graduate and post-doctoral students and 120 buildings in different parts of Torino and in key places in Piemonte. The University of Torino is open to an international perspective both in the field of research and training. It carries out scientific research and organizes courses in all disciplines, except Engineering and Architecture, with remarkable tradition of research in traditional subjects such as history, philosophy, law, economics and medicine but it is actually branching out into modern and important sectors, such as food science, social politics, IT, performing arts and communication sciences.
The 13 Faculties of the University of Torino cover virtually every field of knowledge. Some of the degree courses offered are unique in Italy, such Military Strategy, Biotechnology, Sport Sciences, Restoration and Conservation (in Venaria).
The University is an integral part of the community, changing it for the better, reviving urban and suburban areas, promoting cultural interaction, social integration and development, encouraging dialogue and insight into current realities.
How to apply
Foreign students living abroad may be required to take an Italian language and general culture test (mandatory for three-year and two-year degrees – “lauree triennali” and “specialistiche” – and usually held in September), as well as an admission exam (if required by the degree course selected).
If you are an EU citizen with a foreign Degree you must hand in your documents to, “Ufficio Studenti Stranieri” from the end of July to the end of August (deadlines for Master’s programs may vary).
If you are a non-EU student and you do not live in Italy, you can enrol according to a specific number of available places for foreigners fixed by the Faculties each year for each Degree course. You must submit the application for early enrolment to the Italian Embassy (or Italian General Consulate) in your Country, usually by the end of May.
The Embassy will send your application form with all required documents to the University of Torino that will send back to the Embassy an acceptance letter, which will be sent to you with the study VISA, which is necessary to come in Italy.
