The programme is intended for students and graduates of all disciplines enrolled at state-maintained (public) higher education institutions in Baden-Württemberg (traditional universities, universities of applied sciences, universities of education, colleges of art and music) and the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University, as well as the partner universities of these institutions.

The programme funds good to excellent applicants who wish to extend their academic and intercultural skills and competency by completing a study or research stay in Baden-Württemberg. Applications are open to students and graduates from all countries. The length and amount of funding is based on the type of the academic institution in question.

For Higher education institutions, the scholarship lasts at least 4 and a maximum of 11 months. For Berufsakademien (vocational universities of cooperative education), the scholarship lasts at least 3 and a maximum of 6 months.

The sponsorship sum also depends on the semester and progress of academic study (undergraduate, graduate) with a minimum of 400.00 EUR per month paid for students at higher education institutions and a minimum of 100.00 EUR per month for students at professional academies (Berufsakademie).

Eligibility

Applications are possible for students at international partner universities (the list of partner universities can be found here) of our universities in Baden-Württemberg who wish to attend a university in Baden-Württemberg for one or two semesters as well as for students at universities in Baden-Württemberg who wish to attend a partner university abroad for one or two semesters.

How to apply?

University students may apply for the scholarships offered by their university at the respective International Office (Akademisches Auslandsamt) or another university office responsible for international activities.
Foreign students from the partner universities should apply at their home university.

Applications should be submitted to the respective International Office at the universities at the latest by March 31 for the scholarship year beginning in the following autumn. Information on the application form and the documents to be included is available from the International Office of the respective university/university of cooperative education.

The universities in Baden-Württemberg carry out the preselection of the applications in accordance with the respective selection procedures and, if necessary, by agreement with the foreign university. The proposed selections of the universities are then transmitted by the program partners to a central Scholarship Commission, which includes representatives of the universities, the Landesstiftung and the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-Württemberg. The Landesstiftung makes the final decision on the award of the scholarships. The result is announced to the students via the universities.
