DESCRIPTION

This competition celebrates Ellen Fitzgibbon’s passion for the natural world and carries on her wish “to bring hope and beauty to those facing cancer.”

It welcomes photographers who share Ellen’s appreciation for the natural world and who find inspiration in knowing their photograph might one day grace the wall of a cancer hospital as a messenger of Ellen’s wish “to bring hope and beauty to those facing cancer.”

Ellen was not only an incredible photographer but also an advocate. Her photographs hang in clinic rooms throughout Penn Medicine and bring hope to patients and their families.

ELIGIBILITY

Entry is free and open to photographers over the age of 18.

Submission Requirements:

  • Application – Available September 1, 2020

  • Digital photographs only. Categories include the natural world and animal kingdom. One image per participant.

  • Statement (Typed, 500 word limit, 12-point font) – Statements should address the contest’s mission as well as the anticipated impact of the submitted photo on patients and hospital communities.

  • First Place USD 1,500
  • Second Place USD 1,000.
  • Winning photographs will be donated to cancer hospitals across the country and displayed prominently.
