Each year, the Forum brings together thinkers from across generations and different ideologies in Europe to network and explore current challenges and potential solutions.

Since its establishment in 1945, the Forum has welcomed speakers such as Theodor W. Adorno, Karl Popper, Indira Gandhi, Friedrich von Hayek, Hans Kelsen, Ban Ki-Moon, Jeffrey Sachs, Saskia Sassen, Yannis Varoufakis, Joseph Stiglitz, Talia Sasson, Anya Schiffrin, and Stephen Sackur.

This year for the first time, the Forum will be a 12-day online conference (23.08.-03.09.2020). .

The Workshop

Fundamentals are omnipresent topics in today’s world – especially to you as journalists. The focus of this online workshop, taking place from 28.08. – 01.09.2020 in will be on democracy, politics, and law. Before and after your training, you will have access to the entire online conference, and the chance to experience a mix of innovators, policy makers and drivers of change with differing perspectives who will help you dig deeper.

You will gain insights into diverse issues that are tackled during the Forum, such as the fundamentals of democracy, European unity, solidarity and dialogue. These fundamentals have guided the activities of the European Forum Alpbach for the past 75 years.
The workshop is an opportunity for you to join and inform the debate on the way forward and to encourage your readers, listeners and viewers to join that debate and make their voices heard.
