Aspiring travel filmmakers, this is your chance to capture the stories of communities living in India’s very own tropical paradise – Kerala for free through World Nomads’ Travel Film Scholarship!

For the past ten years, World Nomads has been providing up-and-coming filmmakers with invaluable mentorships from industry professionals. These experiences in travel film scholarship are custom tailored to deliver true in-field experience, and equip budding filmmakers with sound knowledge of camera, audio, capturing a narrative, interviewing direction, and post-production.

2017 World Nomads Travel Film Scholarship will give an aspiring travel filmmaker the opportunity to win a 12-day all-expenses-paid trip to India, where they will capture the stories of communities living in India’s very own tropical paradise – Kerala, alongside professional filmmaker Brian Rapsey. The assignment will include a 3-day post-production workshop where the winner will create their own travel documentary that we will share with the world.

For this scholarship program, World Nomad’s partnered with travel accessory provider Nomad Goods and local tour operator Kabani Tours to provide a once-in-a-lifetime travel filmmaking experience, complete with complimentary travel accessories and a customized tour of the region.

The trip will take place between November 6-17, 2017 (including travel dates on either side).

Eligibility

• You need to be over 18 at the time of the application deadline (before July 18, 2017);
• The scholarship is not open to professional filmmakers of any kind;
• English does not have to be your first language, but you do need to have conversational English for this scholarship. In order for you to get the most of the mentorship, you will need to be able to understand and converse with your mentor Brian on the trip.

1. Complimentary Round-trip airfare from your closest international airport to Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, India;
2. 12 Days Film Making Trip – Capture the culture and communities of Kerala under the mentorship of professional travel filmmaker Brian Rapsey;
3. 3-day post-production workshop where you’ll edit your film, continuing your mentorship with Brian Rapsey;

How to Apply?

Make a 3-minute documentary: Our challenge to you is to go out and interview an amazing adventurer or inspiring traveler and bring to life their compelling travel story around one of the following themes:
