Sustainable Blue Growth Summer School, Italy

Description

The Italian National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics (OGS) together with the Central European Initiative (CEI) and other partnering institutions, such as: the Robert Bosch Stiftung Foundation, the Abdus Salam International Centre For Theoretical Physics (ICTP), the University Of Trieste, and the University of Udine, will be organizing a one‐week summer school for researchers, scientists and managers from South East Europe in Trieste, Italy.

The topic of the summer school evolves around the EU Blue Growth Initiative, which is a long-term strategy supporting growth in maritime sector by harnessing the potential of Europe’s oceans, seas and coasts for jobs and growth.

The summer school has two main goals:

  1. To  increase the professional skills and the research quality in the field of maritime sciences, here including the climate changes, the environmental protection and the management of the coastal areas;
  2. To disseminate education offer, tackle challenging questions in maritime science, and extend the current economic development and growth in the maritime sector.

Eligibility

The Summer School is open for participants from South East Europe: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey and Ukraine.
Participants from Italy and Germany will be also invited to participate.

Costs

There is no registration fee for the Summer School. Organizers will also grant fellowships covering travel expenses and accommodation to selected candidates.

Application

Applicants interested in the Summer School, should apply on-line by filling in the application form. Applications supported by the candidate’s home institution are recommended and will be taken in particular consideration.

Applications must be submitted before Monday, 2 June 2014.
