Description

The future of Europe is vitally dependent on how quickly and effectively the continent can be made to grow together. In this process the media play an important role. Therefore, APA – Austria Press Agency in cooperation with Bank Austria, a member of UniCredit, created the journalism prize Writing for Central and East Europe.

The prize is aimed at encouraging European integration. Awards come into question for those contributions which help overcome borders and prejudices, deal with the future of Central Europe or the Europe of the regions, minority issues or dialogue with neighbours. The jury selects one contribution. There is only one winner, and will be announced in a ceremony in Vienna in November.

Eligibility

The contest is open for all journalist coming from Europe. The articles submitted should be published in the period from August 1st 2013 until July 31st 2014.

Prize

The prize for the winner is EUR 5,000 and is awarded once a year. The best ten to twelve contributions are also to be published in a booklet – on submission, the authors agree to waive their publication fee for the booklet.

How to Apply?

Each article should be submitted in the original language (word data with maximum 25 pages). The articles should also have their translations into English. Along with your article, please also do submit your CV in English.

Radio-, TV- and online-contributions may also be submitted. The exclusive criterion for the jury’s decision is the quality of the text. With your submission you agree to the possible publication of the submitted report in the scope of the Writing for CEE journalism award.
