Description
The 18th Solo-Dance-Theater Festival taking place on 13-16 March 2014 in Stuttgart invites choreographers and dancers from around the world to register to a competition. As participants in the competition, they are requested to perform a solo piece which is new, original, imaginative, unique and which displays unusual achievement. Thus, the festival will provide an overall view of the latest trends in the solo-dance-theater scene. The respected jury will judge choreographic and dance skills as well as musicality, interpretation and performance.
The participants will be accommodated in a double bed room which will be shared with an other participant. Hotel including breakfast will be paid by the organizers; travel costs will be reimbursed in a lump-sum.
Competitors are obliged to be available for performances on the four festival days. They agree to be available for rehearsals, interviews, television recordings and photos free of charge.
Eligibility
Choreographers and dancers may participate in the competition with a solo piece that is presented either as a premiere or has been performed on stage for the first time within the last 12 months. The duration of the performance has to be between 9 and 12 minutes. The choreographies should be developed along the lines of a contemporary and genuine movement-language. The applicant is free in choice of subject and music. The piece may be interpreted by the choreographer him/herself.

Public’s First Choice Prize € 500

The award winners agree to give “winners’ Gala” performances. The tour will take place in Germany from 14 November 2014 until 26 November 2014. A global fee, travel expenses, overnight costs and catering will be paid. Another tour to Brazil from 20 April 2015 until 5 May 2015 is planned.
Application
The application must be filed via the online form until 11 November 2013 online HERE.
The application is only complete with sending a DVD or uploading a link to an online-medium (YouTube, vimeo) showing the choreographic work. The DVD should contain the choreography that will be performed in the competition (rehearsal recording also possible) or a current solo piece with a maximum duration of 15 minutes. Please note the title of the piece and the ID-number on the DVD. The DVD (only DVD formatted files are accepted!) should be send by 11 November 2013 (date as postmark) at the latest to:

The successful choreographers and dancers will receive an invitation by 20 December 2013 at the latest. The competitors must confirm acceptance by 8 January 2014. If the competitors do not accept in time, the invitation will become invalid.
