The Venerabile Arciconfraternita della Misericordia di Firenze, besides being “the Mother” of the great movement of Misericordie d’Italia, is probably the first Voluntary Organization in the world. It was founded in 1244, in the same century as Dante’s birth; its main base rises in front of Giotto’s Bell Tower, near Brunelleschi’s Dome and the magnificent Florence Cathedral. The Association welcomes men and women from all social ranks who wish to help people in need of both material and moral support.
The Mosaici Project 2014 will take place for the 2nd time in Florence in the Head Office of Misericordia di Firenze and in its branches, ambulatories, rest homes and disability centers. All the structures are situated in different areas of the city except for Villa Alessandro, a ‘Disabled Center’ in a suburban area between Florence and Prato. It will run from March 2014 to February 2015, there will be six Volunteers from European countries. Volunteers will be closely followed by our staff although they will be free to contribute with their personality, ideas and personal competence.
The call is open to positive, passionate and creative young person ready to offer his/her time for learning a lot in cooperation with the other volunteers and offer his/her time in Social and cultural project. It is important that they are open minded, show initiative, communicate easy with very different people and are flexible, so they can adapt to different circumstances. They also should find a great challenge to work with people with limitations, socially, emotionally or physically elderly people. Experience or specific qualification are not required in our project. We pay attention to strong motivation of the candidate, collaboration, learning and good will to understand our Association, we take it for granted that they will be open for new experiences as well as responsible, creative persons, enthusiastic, with an active role.
Although it is a Catholic organisation the religion of the volunteers is not important, they are open to people of different faiths, but the greatest regard for every personal value is requested.
Accommodation, public transport subscription and health insurance are covered from the project budget. Volunteers will also receive an Italian language course.
Applicants must send CV and a motivation letter to firstname.lastname@example.org before 15 September 2013.
