Description

Platform Spartak has the opportunity to host a volunteer who wants work on cultural projects in The Hague. During an European Voluntary Service (EVS) of one year (starting in March 2013), the volunteer will be given the opportunity to gain skills on a personal and professional level, receive language courses and have an unforgettable international experience.

There is a position vacant in one of the main programmes: METRO DEN HAAG or STREETS.

The METRO programme aims at mapping and connecting creative scenes of young European Do-it-Yourself and semi-professional artists. METRO will focus especially on the local artistic and cultural environment of The Hague, highlighting the different cultural, underground communities of the city. With this we aim to show the hidden creativity of The Hague and to provide local artists with support for projects and exhibitions.

The STREETS programme is an international programme connecting in a series of events, workshops and festivals with young musicians, story-tellers and comic designers from different European countries. During the events the artists will work, mixing their techniques and ways of artistic expression. The ultimate goal is to create a virtual platform which will be used by the participants to stay connected, show their work to potential donors and cultural venues and to cooperate together in future projects.

Tasks

Tasks STREETS programme:

  • contribute to the overall content of the programme
  • maintain the contacts with the existing partners
  • research and contact potential partner organizations and artists
  • support in the organization and implementation of 1 art-jam
  • support in the organization and implementation of 1 showcase
  • contribute to the content and to the set-up of the website “New European underground”
  • contribute to the promotion of the above mentioned events
  • eventual administrative and fundraising tasks
  • develop and implement the personal project with the support of the team of Platform Spartak
  • evaluate the activities with the team of Platform Spartak

Tasks METRO DEN HAAG programme:

  • contribute to the overall content of the programme
  • set up a working team of active local youth together with the responsible project manager
  • research the cultural scenes of The Hague together with the local volunteers and the project manager
  • contribute to the development and the organization for the workshops for young creative people in The Hague
  • contribute to the development and the organization of a public event showing the result of the programme
  • eventual administrative and fundraising tasks
  • develop and implement the personal project with the support of the team of Platform Spartak
  • evaluate the activities with the team of Platform Spartak

Eligibility

  • The selected volunteer will preferably have a specific interest or experience in cultural exchange and creativity applied to youth projects. Some kind of experience in cultural and/or youth organizations will be considered a plus. The volunteer may also be a young artist, willing to share one’s local cultural network to enrich the diversity and the creativity of the  programmes.
  • The volunteer is expected to have a clear interest in youth work and cooperation at European level, to be flexible, motivated and to be able to work within the team. Fundamental is also the willingness to learn, to take personal initiatives and be willing to share knowledge, skills, networks and experiences with the team.
  • EVS volunteers must be 18 – 30 years old on the application deadline
  • This is an open call for the Youth in Action Programme and Non-programme countries (Eligible countries are listed on page 17-18 of the Youth in Action Programme Guide)

Benefits

Because the project is funded by the European Commission (Youth in Action),Travel costs (90%), accommodation, food, language courses and pocket money are covered.

      If it is specified that the EVS is one year, then you probably can't take participate for 6 months. However, you can double check with the responsible contact person.

      For this particular project you do not need to find sending organization before applying, it is an open call. Please contact the organizers to obtain more information.
