Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO-University) is the diplomatic school of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. Founded in 1944, it is the oldest and the most renowned school in Russia for preparing specialists in international relations and diplomacy. MGIMO provides training to 4,500 undergraduate students as well as graduate researchers.
Institute Structure
Today MGIMO has six faculties and four institutes:
* School of International Relations (Diplomacy)
* School of International Law
* School of International Economic Relations
* School of Political Science
* School of International Journalism
* School of International Business and Business Administration
* Institute of European Law
* International Institute of Administration
* Institute of Foreign Economic Relations
* International Institute of Energy Policy and Diplomacy
Most of the courses are offered in Russian only. Applicants to these courses must therefore have an advanced level of Russian. Selected courses at the graduate level are available in the English.
Exchange and Visiting Programmes
MGIMO-University offers short and long-term Exchange and Visiting programmes for international students who are studying at foreign universities at the time of application. If you are a student of one of our university partners, your are eligible for our Exchange programme. If you are studying at an institution that has no agreement with MGIMO-University, you should apply for our Visiting programme.
How to Apply
You may apply through the International Office.
Your first step is to send the IO (by fax):
* An original, completed, signed and dated application form
Having received this information, MGIMO-University will send you an official invitation. Once this step has been completed, we await the following:
* A passport with valid visa
* A medical certificate (including an AIDS test)
