EUROCITIES is the network of major European cities, which brings together the local governments of more than 140 large cities in over 30 European countries.
We influence and work with the EU institutions to respond to common issues that impact the day-to-day lives of Europeans. Our aim is to shape the opinions of stakeholders in Brussels to ultimately shift legislation in a way that helps city governments address the EU’s strategic challenges at the local level. A large part of our work is aimed at reinforcing the role and place that local government should have in a multi-level governance structure.
EUROCITIES is, currently, looking for a trainee to work under the supervision of the Policy Officer in the social affairs area for a period of six months.
Eligibility
* university degree
* knowledge of the social affairs area, the role of local authorities and the EU institutions
* excellent English (other European languages are an asset)
* proactive personality
Responsabilities
* monitoring policy initiatives and developments on the EU level
* analysing policy documents and help drafting policy papers
* communication (e.g. drafting articles for EUROCITIES newsletter, updating EUROCITIES web pages)
* organisation of forum and working group meetings
* general administrative tasks
