The University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) founded in 1872, is a Vienna university with around 8,600 students. BOKU sees itself as an education and research centre for renewable resources, which are a necessity for human life. With a connection between natural sciences, engineering and economics, BOKU is trying to deepen the knowledge of an ecologically and economically sustainable use of natural resources in a cultivated landscape.

Incoming Students (permanent)
Applicants with a foreign school leaving certificate who wish to enrol for degree programme studies at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, have to prove their
• a) general university qualification (school leaving certificate equivalent to Austrian “Reifezeugnis”)
• b) special university qualification (evidence of being admitted to the selected study at an acknowledged university in the country issuing the school leaving certificate); applicants with citizenship of a EU or EEA country excluded;
Foreigners who want to start or continue their studies at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, have to submit their complete applications for admission for the winter semester by September 1st and for the summer semester by February 1st (deadlines for application).
Exchange Students
7 of the Master Programs are entirely taught in English. All in all there are around 280 courses each year taught in English. English courses are not just offered in the International Master Programs but in any field of study. Exchange Students who register for any programme are entitled to take any course offered – both at graduate and undergraduate levels! More info here.

• 30th of June – for the winter semester
• 30th of November – for the summer semester
If an exchange student does not know German – no problem! There is no German requirement!
Erasmus at BOKU
At BOKU, like at most of the other universities in Europe, people from different countries who speak different languages are studying, living and socialising together. This contact with other cultures has changed many lives and offers the basis for a interesting and informative time.
