ESN Seeks 9 Social Media Community Managers

Description

European Service Network (ESN) is one of the leading communications agencies and service providers in Brussels serving a range of private- and public-sector clients since 1986. ESN covers the entire media value chain – from the creation of multilingual content to the publication, distribution and impact assessment of sophisticated print, web and audiovisual products.

ESN is looking for community managers with proven professional experience in the field of public relations or customer service using social media in the cities listed below. Successful candidates will work within the offices of the following European Commission Representation and European Parliament Information Office until the end of February 2014 with a possibility of extension (starting dates are mentioned below).

The successful candidates will work part-time (probably 3 days/week) with a freelance status. Each community manager will be solely responsible for his/her own insurance, social security payments, taxation and VAT.

The Community manager will be called upon to build or extend the social media presence of the European Commission Representation and European Parliament Information Office in which he/she works.

His/her task will be to create buzz (awareness, interest) around the activities of the Representation and EPIO, and to build engagement with interested communities in order to bring them closer to the EU debate, making use of relevant content in the official EU language(s) of the country. Some content will be created and scheduled in coordination with the EC/EP web teams. All social media interactions will be carried out according to an agreed and documented code of conduct.

The community manager will report to a central coordinator in Brussels, and will help the coordinator to monitor and report on the social media landscape in their Member State, in particular with respect to priority topics.

He/she will also use his/her existing expertise to upgrade the skills of Representation/EPIO staff in the field of social media community management through training and coaching with a view to equipping the local staff members with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue such activities autonomously after the end of the contract.

Eligibility

The successful candidate will have proven experience of successful social media communication and community building, and extensive knowledge of the national social media landscape. S/he must be adept in the use of relevant methods and tools for the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of communication actions on social media. S/he must have a good working understanding of EU affairs and preferably some experience working in or with public institutions.

S/he must be a native speakers of the official EU language(s) of the country concerned, with excellent knowledge of spoken and written English.

The successful candidate will be an assertive team player with excellent personal communication skills.

Essential characteristics (DO NOT APPLY unless you match all of these):

  • Minimum one year successful professional social media communication experience (accompanied by a corresponding reference from the employer)
  • Familiarity with a variety of relevant social media platforms and tools
  • University degree (Bachelors)
  • Digital literacy
  • Good writing and presentational skills
  • Working knowledge of EU affairs
  • Mother-tongue fluency in the country’s official EU language(s) and excellent written and spoken English

Desirable characteristics:

  • Extensive personal social media experience
  • A degree in Communication and/or EU affairs
