Description
The Young European Citizen’s Convention is an unconventional summer school that takes place every year in July in Cluny, France. The Young European Citizens’ Convention of Cluny is taking place from 7 – 17 July 2013 at the majestic site of the Burgundian abbey. This 13th edition will be a unique opportunity for about 60 participants from at least 20 countries to deepen and to make their proposals on the topic of European citizenship. This year’s theme is “Citizens of Europe: a choice to be made.”
The convention offers a real democractic working space to the 60 participants from up to 30 different countries, which allows them the opportunity to discuss their future, to exchange ideas with other young Europeans and reflect upon and produce a joint European project in an environment of mutual listening and respect. The participants are not only diverse in their nationalities (from 20-30 countries) but also in their academic disciplines : students and young professionals of economy, languages, social sciences, law, journalism, international relations, medicine and engineering. This inter-disciplinary approach is what enables them to have such rich and varied discussions and to have a new and original perspective on their activities.
During the 10 days, you will:
- Meet new people from different places and with different backgrounds
- Be part of a multicultural, international group
- Participate in interactive activities: simulation of the European Council, discussion groups, etc.
- Receive training in negotiation and mediation
- Exchange ideas and discuss your favorite topics of interest with other participants
- Attend conferences, round table discussions, and meet European politicians and diplomats (for a list of people who have attended so far click here)
- Work on a project of your choice
- Get involved in a cultural exchange, where you can present your country and experience the taste, sound and cultural vibe of other countries (“soirée internationale”)
- Last but not least, party with us.
