Description
The Architecture of Information Systems (AIS) of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e) is looking for a PhD working on Process Mining Techniques in the Privacy Compliance and Enforcement (PriCE) project.
The Privacy Compliance and Enforcement (PriCE) project will employ two PhD candidates (one on security and one on process mining) that will collaborate while being supported by several staff members from both groups. The PriCE project is part of NWO’s Cyber Security program which focuses on the development of products, services and knowledge for the security of the digital society. It is part of the Dutch Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy (NCSS). It is aimed at combatting potential cyber disturbances for citizens, industry and government in the Netherlands.
The PhD focusing on process mining techniques for security will be working in the AIS group under the supervision of prof.dr. Wil van der Aalst. The Architecture of Information Systems group is doing research in the area of process modeling and analysis. The group is rated as one of the leading computer science groups in the Netherlands and TU/e often seen as the epicenter of BPM and process mining research. The group uses formal methods such as Petri nets to design, analyze, and implement dynamic systems. The group is well-versed in workflow management, process mining, and process verification.
Requirements
- a solid background in Computer Science and interested in process mining;
- knowledge of data mining and machine learning and/or process modeling and formal methods;
- good communicative skills in English, both in speaking and in writing;
- moreover, candidates are expected to realize research ideas in terms of software.
Note that candidates should really want to make a difference and like to work on things that have a practical relevance. Therefore, the organizers expect people to be able to develop software in such a way that it can be used in industrial settings.
