The department is now taking the next step in developing architecture and urban planning of the highest artistic and scientific quality.A doctoral position is proposed within the research programme Homes for tomorrow:. Building solutions for tomorrow as a reference for today. The position will be placed at Chalmers Architecture.
This doctoral position will give you the possibility to explore in-depth the future prospects for homes from a human perspective. The overall aim is to produce basic knowledge about living and dwelling within the frames for climate change and sustainable development. As a successful candidate you will work within the transdisciplinary research programme ’Homes for Tomorrow’ which gathers a large and broad research competence in the fields of water management, building physics, acoustics and building design, as well as an arena of industrial and societal partners and stakeholders. You will be able to draw upon experiences from earlier research on living and dwelling in extreme environments on earth and in space through NASA’s space research.The position is limited to maximum 5 years, which corresponds to four years of full-time research studies together with teaching in the undergraduate or Masters curricula at Chalmers. The aim is that you as an individual will evolve to an independent researcher for a continued career in academia, industry or other parts of society. As a doctoral student you will be part of an international research environment where you will further develop your competences within a field and where you write you thesis. The work will include many discussions, individual work and some travels.
Eligibility
Applicants who are qualified for doctoral studies preferably with a degree in architecture, architecture and technology or comparative design studies. Applicants with practical experience of architectural design are encouraged to apply. You are expected to work independently, to develop your own ideas, and to be skilled in communicating your scientific results, both orally, visually and written in English. You will work in a transdisciplinary environment and is expected to be open for collaboration across disciplinary borders.
