Internship Opportunity for Psychology/Social Science in Oxford, UK

Deadline: 15 May 2011
Open to: Psychology/Social Science undergraduate or masters student
Duration: 8 weeks

The charity Family Links is a national training organisation that uses the Nurturing Programme to promote loving, kind relationships within families, schools, communities and prisons. Family Links trains parenting support workers and school staff to
deliver the Nurturing Programme across the UK in parent groups, schools and one to one with parents and carers.

Family Links is looking for an intern to join us for up to 8 weeks this summer, to help them analyse the impact of the Nurturing Programme on children and families. Many families have completed standardized pre and post intervention questionnaires (SDQ and WEMWBS) and Family Links is looking for a bright, numerate and keen student to turn the raw data into a report into the impact of the programme, and to work on other aspects of programme evaluation.

Conditions

The intern will need to be comfortable with running paired t-tests, calculating standard deviation, working out effect size and writing up a full report, plus a summary, of the findings. The position may prove to be an ideal opportunity for a student who wishes to use the work to inform a dissertation and the experience will be valuable addition to any student cv.

Salary

Expenses and a small daily allowance will be paid.
