One-Year Jewish Studies Program, Sweden

Paideia (The European Institute for Jewish Studies in Sweden) invites applications from qualified individuals committed to the revival of European Jewish culture regardless of age, religion, academic background or country of origin. No prior study experience in Jewish text is required.
Communities, institutions and organizations throughout Europe may propose candidates whom they envision filling leadership roles.

The program starts in August 2011 and ends in April 2012.

Selection Process

Candidates are chosen based upon:
1. Their ability to contribute to the revival of European Jewish culture
2. Applicant’s intellectual/academic abilities
3. Social & Interpersonal skills
4. The need of the community or organization

Scholarships

The studies at Paideia are tuition free. Paideia students are candidates for student accommodation provided by Paideia and stipends meant to free you from work while participating in the program. Paideia’s number of scholarships is limited. Students who are financially self-sufficient or have external financing will therefore have a better chance of being accepted to the program.

Application Process

Early Application: Dead line January 15 (decision by March1)
Application I: Dead line March 1 (decision by April 15)
Application II: Dead line April 15 (decision by June 1)

Interviews: Qualified candidates are called for an on-line interview latest one month after applying.
Decision: Decision of scholarship is taken within 1½ month after applying.

N.B. Paideia has only 25 scholarship and they are distributed on an ongoing basis. Therefore the earlier you apply, the better chances are to get a scholarship.

Visa for non-EU citizens usually take  up to 3 months to get. It is imperative to apply for visa for non-EU citizens by the latest June 1st.
