Description

The Ignacy Łukasiewicz Scholarship Programme aims to support the socio-economic growth of developing countries through raising the level of knowledge and education of their citizens. It is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (Polish: Narodowa Agencja Wymiany Akademickiej – NAWA) undertaken as part of the “Polish Aid” programme. The patron of the Programme is Ignacy Łukasiewicz, an outstanding Polish inventor, pharmacist, pioneer of the oil industry and the creator of the kerosene lamp.

Education is provided in the following areas of study of: sciences, natural sciences, technical sciences, agricultural, forestry and veterinary sciences at higher education institutions supervised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (Polish: Ministerstwo Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego – MNiSW). The Programme also grants participants the opportunity to learn the Polish language and familiarise themselves with Polish culture.

Eligibility

Eligible to apply are citizens who:

  • are graduates of first-cycle programmes (completed not earlier than in 2014) or last-year students of first-cycle programmes in the 2017/2018 academic year in such fields as exact sciences, natural sciences, technology, agriculture, forestry and veterinary medicine;
  • do not have a Master’s or engineer’s degree;
  • have at least a B2-level certificate in English;
  • are not graduates of Polish universities.

Scholarship

The Programme offers tuition-free education at second-cycle programmes in Poland, and a monthly bursary around 356.53166 EUR to cover living expenses to be disbursed by the Polish National Agency for Student Exchange.

How to Apply?

  • Applications can only be submitted in electronic format through NAWA’s ICT system;
  • Submission of applications after the expiry of the above deadline will not be possible;
  • The applicant can submit only one application for their chosen degree programme;
  • In the case of multiple application submissions by a given candidate, only the application submitted first will be considered. Only complete applications are considered for assessment;
