Description:

The IMF Economist Program (EP) is a unique opportunity for PhD graduates to contribute to the IMF’s mission of ensuring global financial stability. The two-year program prepares young economists for careers at the IMF by offering them the opportunity to work on real-world economic challenges alongside IMF staff. Participants will rotate through different departments and work on policy issues related to macroeconomic surveillance, financial programming, monetary and fiscal policy, exchange rates, international capital markets, and the design of IMF-supported programs.

The EP is designed to give participants a solid foundation in macroeconomic policy and enable them to contribute to the IMF’s mission of ensuring global economic stability.

Eligibility:

  • PhD in macroeconomics, international economics, finance, or related fields (either completed or near completion by the time the program starts).
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research and policy analysis.
  • Strong interest in global economic issues.
  • Open to applicants globally.
