The Falling Walls Foundation invites science journalists from around the world to apply for the Falling Walls International Berlin Science Journalism Fellowship 2024. During the Berlin Science Week (1-10 November 2024) and the Falling Walls Science Summit (7-9 November 2024), selected fellows will have the unique opportunity to attend discussions and events featuring the world’s leading figures from science, innovative companies, and research policy.

This year’s programme will cover topics such as major scientific breakthroughs, sustainable technology development, and the impact of science on society and politics. The evolving Falling Walls Science Summit programme can be found at falling-walls.com/science-summit. The Berlin Science Week programme will be published at the end of September 2024.

Fellowship Objective
This programme is designed for experienced science journalists who cover topics related to science and innovation in established media outlets. It offers access to all events during the Berlin Science Week as well as to public sessions and networking events at the Falling Walls Science Summit. The programme also includes an exclusive opportunity for participants to explore Berlin’s innovation ecosystem, meeting key voices from science, technology, and innovation.

Open to international science journalists from around the world.

Benefits

Around 12 selected journalists will have the opportunity to meet leading scientists and participants of the Berlin Science Week and Falling Walls Science Summit. In addition, the fellowship provides exclusive insights into Berlin’s research landscape. It offers contacts with research institutions, opportunities for interviews and reporting, as well as a comprehensive programme that includes discussions with representatives of Berlin’s Senate and innovation ecosystem. The fellowship covers travel expenses, accommodation in Berlin, and the participation fee for both events.

 

How to apply?

Journalists wishing to apply should submit the following documents: 

  • CV  
  • Two to three work samples on scientific topics  
  • Motivation letter (max. 500 words)
