Description:

The LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize is an international award celebrating excellence in craftsmanship. Launched by the LOEWE FOUNDATION, this prestigious award seeks to recognize artisans whose innovative work and artistic vision elevate the future of craft. The Prize, now in its eighth edition, offers a platform to highlight exceptional craftsmanship across a variety of applied arts such as ceramics, woodwork, textiles, metal, jewelry, and more.

In addition to the physical exhibition in Madrid, a digital exhibition will be available, offering a multisensory exploration of the shortlisted works, including their materials, techniques, and sounds. The contest also provides access to “The Room,” the first public database of contemporary craft, which allows artists to showcase their work globally and connect with audiences.

Eligibility:

  • Open to professional artisans aged 18 years or older.
  • Open to artisans of all nationalities.
  • The submission must demonstrate artistic intent and technical proficiency, be an original piece, handmade or partly handmade, created within the last five years, one-of-a-kind, and must not have won any previous prizes.
  • The work should demonstrate innovation by updating tradition and fall within an area of the applied arts (ceramics, metal, textiles, etc.).

Benefits:

  • First Prize: €50,000.
  • The shortlisted and winning entries will be exhibited in Madrid in Spring 2025, with inclusion in the exhibition catalogue.
  • A digital exhibition and the opportunity for artists to feature their work on The Room, a public platform for contemporary craft.
