Description

Atlas Service Corps, Inc. (Atlas Corps), started in 2006, is an international network of social sector leaders and organizations that promotes innovation, cooperation, and solutions to address the world’s 21st-century challenges. They were profiled as a “best practice” in international exchange by the Brookings Institution and featured in the Washington Post as a model social entrepreneurship program. Their mission is to address critical social issues by developing leaders, strengthening organizations, and promoting innovation through an overseas fellowship of skilled nonprofit professionals.

Important note: Atlas Corps is still accepting applications for Fellowships beginning later in 2020 and early 2021, but they are temporarily putting a hold on selecting candidates for the Fellowship who reside in a country described by the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) as a Level 3 risk or higher. You can find that list here.

Eligibility

The potential candidates should have:

  • Two or more years of relevant experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
  • English proficiency (oral, writing, reading);
  • Age 35 or younger;
  • Apply to serve in a country other than where you are from (U.S. citizens are not eligible for the U.S. Fellowship);
  • Commitment to return to your home country after the 12-18 month Fellowship;
  • Commitment to living on a basic stipend that only covers food, shared housing, and local transportation.

Benefits

Atlas Corps will provide support in searching for and securing housing including a living stipend that will help each candidate finance their housing situation. Atlas Corps will also provide Fellows with round-trip transportation by economy air between their country of residence and the host country. All selected Fellows will be enrolled in the Atlas Corps Fellows health insurance plan*. All transportation to and from the Host Organization is fully supported by Atlas Corps.

*The policy does not cover maternity, mental health, dental or eye treatment, or treatment of medical conditions that exist prior to the Fellow’s arrival in the United States and in turn, Fellows may need to pay co-pays or deductibles not covered by the health insurance. Because of this, all Fellows are encouraged to check with their home country doctors to ensure they are in good health before the start of the Fellowship.
