Description

The IMFSE programme is jointly offered by three Full Partner Universities: Ghent University (Belgium), Lund University (Sweden) and the University of Edinburgh (UK). The IMFSE programme consists of 4 semesters of 30 ECTS-credits each, i.e. 2 years and 120 ECTS-credits in total. The mobility structure, with the possible change in study location after each semester, gives students the opportunity to gain from the strengths and expertise of more than three universities in the field of Fire Protection Engineering.

Eligibility

• Have a Bachelor’s degree or recognised equivalent from an accredited institution (minimum three years full-time study or 180 ECTS credits) in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, chemical, industrial engineering, material sciences, chemistry, physics, applied physics, architecture, urbanism and spatial planning or a related discipline.

Note: Students in their last year of a Bachelor’s programme at the time of application will also be considered for admission. It is the applicant’s responsibility that the Bachelor degree is obtained before the start of the IMFSE programme.

• Proficiency in English Language Required: IMFSE is an English-taught programme and an English language proficiency is thus a basic requirement.

Scholarship

Erasmus+: The Erasmus+ scholarships for Partner Country students are to be considered “full scholarships” since they cover all necessary costs during the study period in Europe. Over 2 years, the total amount of the scholarship is around 49,000 EUR. This includes a contribution to the IMFSE programme of 9,000 EUR per year, i.e. the tuition fee. The remainder of the scholarship, covering travel, accommodation and living costs, is paid to the student in monthly instalments plus additional fixed contributions during the course of the study, depending on your mobility.

1. Master Grant: Ghent University awards a full scholarship on a yearly basis, called the ‘Master Grant’ for students from developing countries. The application is done through the regular application forms.
2. IMFSE consortium scholarship (for Partner Country students): The IMFSE consortium awards a full scholarship on a yearly basis, called the ‘IMFSE consortium scholarship’. The application is done through the regular application forms.
3. IMFSE EEA scholarship (for Programme Country students): Up to 2 scholarships will be granted to EEA students in 2017. Each scholarship amounts to a maximum of 20,000 EUR of which 3,000 EUR/year is taken as tuition fee reduction. The scholarship will be paid as 10 monthly payments of 700 EUR each academic year during the studies (no payments in July and August), for a maximum of 2 years. In other words, the student will receive a maximum of 14,000 EUR in total and has to pay 4,000 EUR /year in tuition fee.
