Description
The Visegrad Summer School is a two-week cycle of training sessions for young Czech, Hungarian, Polish and Slovakian students, as well as their peers from other Central and Eastern European countries. The purpose of the project is to deepen the knowledge about regional and global challenges, liquidation of mutual stereotypes, building of bonds and friendly contacts. Prior editions of the School were attended by over 650 people from: Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, France, Kyrgyzstan, Kosovo, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Germany, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Ukraine.
The programme of the 14th Visegrad Summer School encompasses lectures, discussions on current political, cultural and social affairs in a regional, global and European perspective. Apart from experts and intellectuals, the school hosts ambassadors, ministers, representatives of the European Union, scientists, politicians, businessmen, journalists, artists, representatives of national and local authorities, as well as non-governmental organizations. The School participants will be involved in preparation of projects within the scope of international cooperation and will take an active part in the cultural life of Kraków; during a study trip, they will learn about cultural heritage of Małopolska. Some of the debates, lectures and meetings will be open for the public.
The Visegrad Summer School has been organized every year since 2002 by the Villa Decius Association. Commencement of a substantive discussion in a group of outstanding experts and intellectuals enables the students a more efficient evaluation of phenomena and offers a chance for getting to know the stances and the motivation of partners. The project has been distinguished by the International Visegrad Prize established by the ministers of culture of Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
Who is eligible?
Students, graduates, PhD researchers, young professionals from the Czech Republic (8 positions), Hungary (8 positions), Poland (8 positions) , Slovakia (8 positions) , Ukraine (5 positions) and other eligible countries (13 positions) that include: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Slovenia.
The school is looking for active, open-minded and creative people. The working language of the School is English, so good communication skills in English are essential.
Students from non-eligible countries can apply providing they will cover the participation fee of 390 euro as well as individual insurance and travel costs to/from/in Krakow.
Costs
The organizers will provide:
- educational programme and materials;
- special events;
- accommodation and board.
Participants will cover
- travel costs to/from/in Krakow;
- insurance;
- registration fee of 75 Euro.
