Deadline: 1 March 2015
Open to: emerging cultural journalists
Benefits: tickets to the Berliner Festspiele’s Theatertreffen, costs of transport and accommodation will be covered
Since 2008, the Berliner Festspiele’s Theatertreffen has been running an independent, digital journalistic channel: the Blog. The Theatertreffen Blog is the laboratory for present-time observation of theatre and internet, offering a place for meta-text, exchange and discussion.
Currently they are looking for young cultural journalists with experince of theatre and internet who are willing to write for the Blog. The aim is to create an interested blog orchestra with strong opinions, one that can serve as a critical, interactive membrane between the inside of the festival and the great beyond for the Theatertreffen in May 2015: Thinking and typing outside the box. The blog’s editorial team carries out a “present-time observation” of the Theatertreffen’s centerpiece – the ten most remarkable productions – and of the additional festival programme. They research parallel stories and comment on the events in words, images, video and social media.
This opportunity is open to emerging cultural journalists, writing either in German or English, who see the internet as both home and internal outpost. There is no age limitation.
Tickets to the festival are included and the costs of transport and local accommodation will be covered.
Interested applicants should send the following documents:
- a letter of motivation (no more than 3,000 characters);
- a CV in tabular form;
- a fictional review of a show that you would like to see at the Theatertreffen (no more than 5,000 characters);
- a link to your own blog (if applicable);
- up to 3 representative work samples.
All documents must be sent to as a pdf file to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The deadline for applications is 1 March 2015. Selected participants will be notified by mid-March.
