The Department of History at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Comparative History.

CEU’s Department of History focuses on early modern and modern history, with a number of regional concentrations, including Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the Ottoman and Russian Empires and their successor states. With faculty specialized in a number of historical sub-disciplines, it offers as well comparative perspectives on Western Europe and the Middle East.

Eligibility

Applicants must hold a PhD degree or provide documentation that they will receive a PhD by August 2015. Candidates must have the capacity to develop a convincing and innovative methodological program for research and teaching in Comparative History. While the topical focus is open, candidates must be able to connect to focus areas of the department. They seek applicants whose research and teaching accommodate contemporary approaches in social, political, gender, intellectual or cultural history.

Remuneration

The initial appointment as assistant professor is for four years and renewable (starting date August 2015 or January 2016); salary is negotiable and competitive.
