Writing competition “So similar, so different, so European”

Deadline: 27 February 2015 at midday
Open to: residents of the 28 EU member states aged between 18-25
Prize: three-day visit to Brussels with all costs covered

Description

The European Commission is keen to learn more about what you think:

  • What is your experience in an enlarged European Union?
  • How can the enlarged European Union meet the challenges of the future?

The overall idea of this writing competition is to promote the success of EU enlargement among Europe’s future opinion leaders – as future parents, teachers, entrepreneurs etc. Young people will be prompted to reflect on the issue of EU enlargement and on countries they might not be very familiar with. They will learn more about each other’s countries and cultures and experience the benefits of EU enlargement. This will foster a common sense of European identity among the young generation.

Participants are invited to answer one or both the questions above. The objective of the competition is to encourage informed debate on EU enlargement, therefor despite positive impacts of EU enlargement, critical responses are invited if well argued and constructive, as these can only add to the debate.

  • The competition is open to citizens of the 28 EU Member States;
  • Participants must be aged 18 to 25 years at the deadline for submission;
  • Participants must be a resident of an EU Member State.
