Description
“Our Future Europe” is a challenging and exciting exchange program established in 2003 by a partnership of three non-governmental organizations: Integra (Kosovo), Youth Education Committee (Serbia) and Linking Europe (the Netherlands).
Every year it brings together young motivated people from Serbia, Kosovo and the Netherlands( six per country). It offers a unique opportunity to explore political and social issues faced by people and communities in these countries, in relation to the process EU integration. Coming from different national, educational and personal backgrounds and living in an increasingly diverse world, it is of great worth to understand each other’s perspective.
The program combines official and expert meetings with peer education. A visit to Belgrade, Serbia (August 2014) and an exchange in the Netherlands (October 2014) provide an intense experience.
During the program participants look at conflict and diversity at various levels: from the individual to the community; and from the policy maker to the citizen. Several topics relating to the overall theme (Conflict and Diversity in European Societies) will be discussed during the program in a way that multiple perspectives are covered.
Eligibility
- Citizenship or permanent residence in the Netherlands, Kosovo or Serbia;
- Students between 18-25 years old;
- Fluency in English;
- Good writing skills;
- Having the motivation to successfully participate and complete the program including organizing three peer-to-peer activities;
- Having a particular interest in European societies and/or the Balkan region;
- Regular Internet connection and access;
- Having a valid passport and travel insurance to visit Serbia/the Netherlands.
Costs
The organisers will cover accommodation, food and drinks during the visit in Belgrade and the exchange week in the Netherlands. Dutch participants are required to contribute a participation fee of €60 and additionally the travel costs to and from Belgrade (estimated between €150-200). The participation fee for students from Kosovo and Serbia is €20 for the entire program.
