Deadline: 1 May 2014
Open to: final-year undergraduate students and graduate students in Law and Political Science, as well as young professionals and scholars
Venue: 13-18 July, Herzeg-Novi, Montenegro
Every year, the Center for Constitutional Studies and Democratic Development (CCSDD) and the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade organize a Summer School that brings together students and academics from various countries in Central and Eastern Europe, including the Balkans. During the Summer School, students and faculty discuss the constitutional implications of EU expansion and the lessons that can be learned from the founding members of the European Economic Community (EEC) as well as the reforms that need to be implemented in what are often termed as “consolidated democracies”.
In particular, the Summer School has recently focused on enlargement due to the fact that in 2004 ten new member states entered the European Union. The enlargement itself has represented a chance to evaluate the goals already achieved and to identify what new challenges will come at the EU level, but has also influenced the basic idea underlying the Summer School. The Balkans represent a key area for the future enlargement of the EU. While enlargement is the core issue of the European Union and Legal changes will come at EU level, but has also influenced the basic idea underlying the Summer School, every year the CCSDD, under the advice of the Scientific Board, puts together an innovative series of lectures to address topics that fit the interests of selected participants and, at the same time, the above mentioned goals of the Summer School.
The one-week Summer School will take place in Igalo (Herzeg-Novi), Montenegro, on 13-18 July 2014 and is open to final-year undergraduate students and graduate students in Law and Political Science, as well as young professionals and scholars.
The full cost of tuition, accommodation and food during the time of the conference is approximatively 850 Euro. The organization offers 28 partial and full scholarships available for students from Italy and countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The scholarships cover costs of tuition, accommodation, and food. They do not, however, cover costs of travel to and from Montenegro. While selection of applicants will be based on the academic merit of the applications, those willing to bear the participation costs fully or partially will be preferred in case of equally strong applications.
In order to apply, fill in the application form. The CCSDD does not accept any additional materials such as CVs, recommendation letters etc.
The deadline to submit your application is 1 May 2014. You will be notified about the selection results by 15 May 2014 at the latest.
