European People’s Party Study Visit in Brussels

Description

The European People’s Party Group in the Committee of the Regions will hold a three-day study trip on 1-3 April 2014 for 30 students enrolled in Masters Programmes of European Studies, Political Science or International Relations and with EU citizenship. Students will have to be actively involved in the debate on Europe; especially in the run-up to the European elections in 2014 when many students will be eligible to vote for the first time. Participants will be able to witness EU decision making and learn about the pivotal role of local and regional actors first-hand before casting their vote in the 2014 European Elections.

Conditions:

  • The EPP/CoR does not accept any responsibility for late or lost entries due to the internet/post;
  • The EPP Group secretariat’s decision is final in every situation and no correspondence will be entered into;
  • Applicants will be deemed to have understood the above rules and accepted them and agree to be bound to them when registering for the study trip;
  • This project is administered by the EPP/CoR and it reserves the right to cancel this study visit at any stage;
  • Successful participants must attend the duration of the study visit;
  • Participants will be required to submit a 500 word paper entitled “How the Committee of the Regions impacts life in my region and/or city” following participation in the study visit.

Eligibility

  1. This competition is open to citizens of the Member States of the EU;
  2. Entrants must be enrolled onto a Masters Programme in European Studies, Political Science or International Relations at the time of the visit i.e. 1-3 April 2014;
  3. Applicants who have already taken part in an EPP Study Visit will not be eligible;
  4.  The study visit will be conducted in English therefore a good, working knowledge of the language is essential.

Costs

All costs for travel and accommodation will be met by the Committee of the Regions.

The closing date is Friday 7 March 2014 and the successful candidates will be chosen on the basis of the motivation given in the application form. Please note that preference will be given to those who have not had direct experience with the EU and every effort will be made to achieve a cross-section of nationalities and interests.
