Description

IGLYO is the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Youth and Student Organization. Created in 1984, today the IGLYO network is an important meeting point for LGBTQ youth in the European region.

They are excited to offer IGLYO members, friends, and LGBTQ activists around the world the possibility of contributing to their next issue of the quarterly bulletin IGLYO on… In line with the recent Study Session ‘Equality in Action’ that was held at the European Youth Centre Strasbourg in September, the next issue will be titled IGLYO on Advocacy, where they will highlight approaches, strategies and good practice of advocating for LGBTQ youth and students causes and rights.

IGLYO believes that the practice of advocacy is the pursuit of influencing outcomes. More specifically, advocacy is the deliberate process of influencing those who make or have responsibility for implementing policy decisions. As such, the word ‘advocacy’ is quite pliable and is used variously to suit organisational agendas. It is understood in terms of the work of an organisation does and the fundamental mission of the organisation (IGLYO Position Paper on Education 2012).
