Thanapara Swallows Development Society was originally founded by the Swedish organization The Swallows in Thanapara Village, Bangladesh in 1973. Now it is a fully independent non-governmental organization.

Since gaining full independence from the Swallows Sweden on 1st July 1999, the Thanapara Swallows Development Society has been seeking ways to make all programs sustainable. The Society implements number of various projects and programs focused on disadvantaged people. Their activities are supported by different donors. Currently, the Society is looking for a volunteers who would be teaching English to local young people in the period of January – March 2014.

Eligibility

Volunteers are expected to possess:

  • English communication skills
  • Volunteer soul
  • Reliability
  • Willingness to learn new knowledge including Bangla language
  • Any special skills are an advantage

Costs

The volunteers must be ready to cover all costs related to their stay in Bangladesh. The accommodation and food is provided by Thanapara Swallows Guest House. The price for volunteers is from 10-15 Euros per day (it depends on how many volunteers will come). Clean and homey rooms are equipped with air conditioning and possible internet connection. Volunteers are provided with meals three times a day. Individual discounts are possible.
