Description

“Appetiser” is a training seminar which aims to get together youth workers/leaders from all over Europe, who are not experienced in working internationally, and introduce them the possibility to expand their activity level to, and benefit from, the international youth work field. It promotes the use of Youth in Action program and it constitutes an activity favourable to the development of young people’s active citizenship in general and European citizenship in particular. It is build upon the principles of non-formal learning struggles for its promotion and recognition (among others, by providing participants with a Youthpass certificate).

Appetiser aims to gather 30 youth participants from 9-13 October 2013 in Poland to give a strong positive first experience of international youth work and motivate participants to use the “Youth in Action” Programme and the future youth programme from 2014.

This aim summarises the entire idea of the seminar – to give a feeling, what it means to work with young people in an international setting. Leaving all explanations and knowledge aside it is about giving a space for participants to explore the advantage of “internationality” themselves.

“Appetiser” is designed according to the following objectives:

  • To taste non-formal and intercultural learning
  • To enjoy the first intercultural youth project experience
  • To exchange local youth activities in the international context
  • To explore possibilities of support available for international youth activities offered by the Youth programme
  • To analyse examples of qualitative youth projects supported by the Youth programme
  • To see how to benefit from international context in participants local work practice.
