EU Low-Carbon ‘World You Like Challenge’

Deadline: 14 June 2013
Open to: any project helping to lower or avoid CO2 emissions and improve people’s quality of life from people within the 27 EU member states
Prize: invitations to the World You Like – Sustainia Awards in Copenhagen in autumn 2013

With a climate you like is getting ready for the launch of an EU-wide low-carbon contest. Across Europe, they are looking for the most innovative and creative green projects that are making a difference in tackling climate change. It is time to move away from just talking about climate action and show that concrete action is feasible, affordable – and already happening. Across Europe, there are many good initiatives on the ground contributing to a world we like, with a climate we like. It is time to reward them.

The World You Like Challenge will be launched by Connie Hedegaard, European Commissioner for Climate Action. They want creative and innovative minds across the EU to let them know about their initiatives that are making a real contribution to the drive towards a sustainable, low-carbon future.

They are looking forward to receiving entries about original and innovative projects with a concrete and tangible output. What matters is that the project contributes to avoiding, reducing or dealing with carbon emissions – on a technical or behavioural level. Your project should illustrate good practice and provide a role model for other people or organisations. If it has an impact on people’s everyday life, even better – that is what they are looking for! You can submit your project in one of the following five categories:

  1. Building & living
  2. Shopping & eating
  3. Re-use & recycling
  4. Travel & transport
  5. Innovative production

Above all, they are looking for inspirational projects that show others how a world we like, with a climate we like, can be achieved and that can motivate people to adopt a low-carbon lifestyle.
