Remuneration: based on education level, but ranging from €225-€675 per month

Description

The Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) announces the reopening of its Internship Programme for the year 2013 offering young people the opportunity for a training at the Headquarters of the Anna Lindh Foundation in Alexandria, Egypt.

The ALF Internship Programme aims at fostering interdisciplinary knowledge as well as practical know-how building, targeting young talented undergraduate and graduate students, willing to gain practical experience in a field relevant to the Foundation through their full involvement in daily work. The training received at the Anna Lindh Foundation intends to orient and enhance the chances of talented youth in the labor market, as well as to exchange experience or skills with experienced seconded staff.

Four different tracks with the following tasks are available for interns:

1) Administration and Finance Unit – five months (see call for applicants HERE)

  • Maintaining a classified and updated archive/filing system;
  • Assisting in reviewing financial reports and requests against the supporting documents;
  • Drafting relevant correspondence with institutions/organizations working with the Anna Lindh Foundation;
  • Assisting in the launching of any future Calls for Tenders,
  • Assisting in administrative matters (sending faxes, follow-up activities … etc.);
  • Carrying out any additional tasks provided by the direct supervisor

2) Office of the Executive Director – one month (see call for applicants HERE)

  • Maintaining a classified and updated archive/filing system;
  • Assisting in reviewing and managing invitations received that are addressed to both, the President and the Executive Director;
  • Drafting relevant correspondence with institutions/organizations working with the Anna Lindh Foundation;
  • Assisting in relevant technical work at the Executive Office;
  • Assisting in fulfilling requests and providing supporting documents in preparation for President and Executive Director missions;
  • Assisting in administrative matters (sending faxes, follow-up activities,… etc.);
  • Carrying out any additional tasks provided by the direct supervisor

3) Network Coordination Unit – six months (see call for applicants HERE)

  • Assist with the management of the Network Strategic Development Scheme (closure of Step 5 and launch of Step 6) including evaluation of activity technical reports and applications;
  • Assist with the organisation of the Annual Heads of Network meeting.
  • Assist with the online Networks survey.
  • Assist with the update of the National Networks database and online Network pages.
  • Assist with the translation from English to French

4) Programme Coordination Unit – four months (see call for applicants HERE)

  • Assist the programme unit all aspects concerning the ALF activities and programme.
  • Assist the programme unit in the coordination, planning, organization and implementation of Citizens for Dialogue programme and partially working on Young Arab Voices..
  • Proofreading of any communication in French and translation of documents from French to English and vice versa.
  • Submit a final report at the end of the internship

Moreover, the Internship Programme seeks to support the internal human resources capacity of the Anna Lindh Foundation with students or graduates between 19 and 32 years old, fluent in two or more of the official languages of the Union for the Mediterranean countries, and qualified in areas relevant to the ALF strategic interventions.

Payment

Interns will be remunerated by the following scheme based on a basic subsistence allowance of 225 monthly:

  • Professional Education or up to 2 years university education: €270
  • Bachelor Level (BA, Licence or minimum 4 years completed univ. ed.): 405
  • Master Level (MSc, MA, Maitrise, or minimum 5 to 6 years completed univ. ed.): 540
  • Doctorate Level (PhD, Doctorat, DESS, DEA): 675

Eligibility

Applications for internship are welcome from residents of the 43 Euro-Med countries who are between 19 and 32 years old. Any application from a resident outside the 43 countries can be accepted provided that their cost will not be covered by ALF. The Euro-Med member countries include: the 27 EU member states PLUS Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey.

Applicants should be fluent in English, while fluency in French and Arabic is an asset. They should also be qualified in areas relevant to the ALF strategic interventions.
