Description
Held every two years, this Airbus competition asks students to develop ideas for an eco-efficient aviation industry. Innovation is at the heart of all global development and it is by thinking big that mankind can meet seemingly impossible challenges. With the third Fly Your Ideas challenge – part of the visionary Future by Airbus Programme – Airbus is asking students to think big too, and propose an idea to address one of the following 21st century challenges for greener aviation.
These challenges are:
- Energy
- Energy Efficiency
- Affordable Growth
- Traffic Growth
- Passenger Experience
- Community Friendly
- Pitch Your Idea: Participants will share their innovative idea which should address one of these six challenges; the key features, the benefits and how they would progress if successful in reaching Round Two.
- Develop Your Project: n Round Two up to 100 teams from all over the world will be selected to work with an Airbus Mentor, to develop their idea into a detailed project. This will involve submitting a report of up to 5,000 words in English with any associated charts, diagrams or other relevant appendices, as well as a short video.
- Deliver Your Presentation: Five teams will be selected for Round Three, to develop their project into a presentation to be delivered during a live final in June 2013. A panel of Airbus and industry experts will judge each presentation and select the champions.
Eligibility
The competition is open to teams of three to five students from around the world, currently studying a Bachelors degree, Masters or PhD in any academic discipline, from engineering to marketing, business to science and philosophy to design.
Prize
The winners of FYI 2013 will share the top prize of €30,000; the runners-up €15,000.

After registration you will receive a detailed brief and access to a short online questionnaire to complete. You will also need to find an Academic Mentor to support your team during the competition.
