Deadline: 01 August 2012
Open to: researchers at any career stage, but those without a PhD (in a relevant discipline) would not normally be eligible
Fellowship: £1,500 GBP per calendar month

Description

Visiting stipendiary Fellowships are a new initiative for the Institute for the Study of the Americas, being offered for the first time in the academic year 2012-13. These Fellowships provide for funding for between three and eight months during the academic year (1 August 2012 to 31 July 2013). These Fellowships may be extended beyond eight months but no additional funding will be available. Fellowships may be terminated or the offer of a Fellowship withdrawn with or without notice if the Institute Director is not satisfied that the conditions of the appointment are being (or can be) met.

Eligibility

The Fellowships are open to researchers at any career stage, but those without a PhD (in a relevant discipline) would not normally be eligible.

Fellowship

A stipend of £1,500 GBP per calendar month is offered to successful candidates (which can be used towards travel and accommodation costs). Living accommodation is not provided, and it is the responsibility of the Fellow to arrange it. There is a range of information on typical accommodation and living costs in London available on the Institute’s website along with some websites to find suitable accommodation. Successful applicants will be able to take advantage, subject to availability, of accommodation reserved for visiting academics by the University of London Housing Services. A small fund is also available on a competitive basis for attending conferences.

Application

The deadline for applications is midday (UK time) on Wednesday 1 August 2012. With regret, any application received after the deadline may not be considered. Applications should be submitted by email to Americas@sas.ac.uk
Informal queries regarding the scheme may be directed by email to the Institute Manager: paul.sullivan@sas.ac.uk
