Description

GeT MA – the German Turkish Masters Program in Social Sciences – is a unique, interdisciplinary, two-year masters program, which offers an excellent education in Europe’s two vibrant capitals: Berlin and Ankara. GeT MA is designed for students from all over the world who aim to pursue an international career in government agencies, NGOs, administration, journalism or research. The program is taught at the Middle East Technical University Ankara, Turkey and the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, Germany.

GeT MA is part of the Ernst-Reuter-Initiative of the German and Turkish Foreign Ministries and is supported by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Eligibility

The minimum admission requirement is a B.A. degree above average, e.g. cumulative Grade Point Average 2,50/4,00; 70/100. Students who graduate in the ongoing semester must include a confirmation by the registrar’s office stating the exact date of graduation. Admission are welcome from the holders of a degree in Social Science, Political Science, Sociology, European Studies, History, Public Administration, Public Policy, Law or Economics.

Candidates has to confirm their knowledge of English, by showing approproate certificate:

  • TOEFL (internet-based): 79
  • TOEFL (computer-based): 213
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System): 6,5

Knowledge of Turkish or German is not essential.

Scholarship

GeT MA provides four full scholarships (tuition fees of €2.500 per semester+ monthly stipends) and a certain number of tuition fee reductions to qualified students of the program. Applicants interested in these scholarships should state their need in their statement of purpose (you find this in the application form). The distribution of scholarships will be decided during the admissions process. Applicants will be notified when being made an offer for the program

Application

The admission process consists of the submission of the application package and an interview with the GeT MA admissions committee. Both METU and HU accept applications. Where an applicant submits the application package depends on the place the qualification for university entrance (e.g. high school diploma, Abitur, …) was acquired.
