Description

The Institute for Computer Science (Distributed and Parallel Systems Group) of the University of Innsbruck, Austria, invites applications for funded research positions for doctoral or postdoctoral students in Cloud Computing. The Distributed and Parallel Systems group focuses on simplifying the effective use of multiprocessor architectures and geographically distributed, heterogeneous resources (Cloud infrastructures), which will provide the basis for the next generation of Internet-enabled performance oriented applications.

Eligibility

Candidates who are knowledgeable in distributed and parallel computing and interested in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • scheduling for workflow applications
  • runtime environments for the Cloud
  • SLA, QoS negotiation and business models for the Cloud resource management and provision for the Cloud

Doctoral applicants must hold a master or equivalent degree in computer science or computer engineering and are expected to contribute to research.
Language skills: The entire PhD program is based on English only.
The Distributed and Parallel Systems group currently participates among others in the following Grid projects:

Note the working and research language of the distributed and parallel systems group is English. There is no need to learn German for the above mentioned positions.
