Short-term grants for foreign doctoral students at Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology

The BGHS awards short-term grants to foreign doctoral students to fund three to four month research stays at the Graduate School. Grant-holders receive a computer work station for the duration of their stipend.

Grant

The grant consists of a EUR 800 stipend per month. This amount will be supplemented by a child allowance if applicable. Upon application, travel costs can also be covered by the Graduate School.

Application Process

Application deadlines are as follows:

* June 15 for a stay during Winter Term
* January 15 for a stay during Summer Term

Application documents

Please submit the following documents:

* Covering letter detailing your interest in researching at the BGHS (800 words max.)
* Curriculum vitae
* Research proposal on a sociological or historical question (2,000 words max.)
* Work schedule and timeframe for your stay at the BGHS
* Recommendations from two college or university professors
* Certificates of College and University degrees

We encourage candidates to make contact with research associates and professors of the Faculty of Sociology or the Department of History before their stay at the BGHS. This improves academic exchange and facilitates integration into seminars and colloquia.
