This Program provides scholarships to US undergraduates to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad.
The program will give preference to applicants planning to study in one of the following emphasized countries:

Eligibility
* US Citizens
* High school graduates, or holders of a GED, and are matriculated in an undergraduate degree program in a U.S. post-secondary institution, including universities, colleges and community colleges accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
Application
1. Contact the Boren Campus Representative or your on-campus deadline
2. Submit the application, with the following materials:
– a study abroad program section
– a budget section
– two statements of purpose
3. Submit the following supplementary materials to your campus representative:
– Completed letters of reference (must be signed, original letters in an envelope with the signature across the seal)
– Official, hard copy, transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
– Language self-assessment
– Language proficiency form

Scholarship
Maximum scholarship awards are:
* $8,000 for a summer program (special initiative for STEM students only; 8 weeks minimum)
* $10,000 for a semester
* $20,000 for a full academic year
