Residency program for artists, Canada

The Residency Program aims to bring contemporary artists of international caliber to live and work on Fogo Island and Change Islands. The program encourages the participation of artists working in a wide range of disciplines, including – but not limited to – visual arts, new media, design, music, dance, writing and film.

Residencies in the first year of operation (June 2010 to June 2011) are open for visual artists, designers, curators and filmmakers.

Eligibility:

*Visual artists, curators and filmmakers;
*Residencies are 3 – 6 months.

Grant:

*Visiting artists/curators/filmmakers are provided with a studio and a house to live in.
*Artists/curators/filmmakers selected to the program can apply for stipend to cover material and living costs on the island and for travel (to and from Fogo Island only).
*Production funding can also be applied for during residency on the island.

How to apply:

Please download, print and fill out the application form. Make sure to enclose the following materials in your application (copies only, no original art work):

* Curriculum Vitae
* Max. 10 images, either printed or saved in PDF or JPEG format on a CD-ROM
* Max. 2 DVDs
* Max. 3 reviews/catalogues
* 2 letters of recommendation from distinguished art professionals
* Brief project description (max 200 words)

Deadline for applications is once a year, for residencies in 2011 (February onwards) the deadline is July 31 2010 (post stamp date).
