Call for papers

International Conference for Graduate Research in Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure in Shkoder, Albania.
It will be held on the first of October, 2010.

The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for research collaboration and mentoring of emerging tourism researchers in order to share their research experience. We invite scholars from tourism studies and the wider social sciences to join us.

The 1st International  Conference for Research in Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure is organized by the Tourism Department, University of Shkodra, Albania and  Sandhills Community College, Pinehurst North Carolina, USA to provide a research forum among graduate students and faculty members engaged in graduate teaching and research in tourism and hospitality, and the other relating areas. Both the students and faculty members Worldwide World are invited to contribute to the conference where the interdisciplinary aspects of tourism and hospitality areas will be emphasized.

Authors are invited to submit papers across a wide spectrum not only in tourism, travel and hospitality but also in the other relating areas such as leisure, recreation, anthropology, economics, education, environment, geography, history, landscape architecture, management, marketing, political science, psychology, etc. Students currently enrolled in any above graduate programs can submit papers reflecting the scope of their thesis or dissertations.

Submission Guidelines

All abstracts should be written in English and must be no more than 200 words in length. All submissions will be subject to a double-blind review and published in the refereed conference proceedings. Abstracts should be e-mailed to

and must include: title; author(s); affiliations; a summary of the research aims; approach and key arguments/findings. Papers can be submitted for the following two categories:

Thesis/dissertations (max. 2,000 words): Open only for graduate students to reflect the summary of their thesis or dissertations in terms of the development of hypotheses and methodology and showing the way how it may contribute to the literature. In addition to graduates currently enrolled, those who will be graduated until 30 September 2010 are also encouraged to submit an abstract.

Research papers (max. 5,000 words): Open both for graduates and faculty members who are encouraged to submit their regular conceptual or empirical papers. At least one author should be present at the conference to present. The authors are free to investigate any subject field they have enough knowledge, experience or research interests.

After conference the presented papers will publish in Proceeding with ISBN and will have the chance to be submitted to TMC Academic Journal subject to the peer-reviewed process.

60 Euro/ teachers and others
200 Euro/ tourism organization that want to promote their businesses

The conference fee includes the conference materials, CD of abstracts, publication  in conference proceedings with ISBN and the conference lunch.
