Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences is located in Dornbirn, in the westernmost state in Austria. It is the only institution providing tertiary education in this state. It offers Bachelor and Master degrees in six different degree programs: Business Administration, Engineering with Business Administration, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Media Design and Social Work.
All undergraduate degree programs are designed in such a way that one semester is taught completely in English, in order to accommodate international students.

How to apply

In order to enroll in the bachelor’s degree programs at the Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences students must meet the following requirements:
_    General qualification for university entrance, or
_    higher education entrance examination, or
_    a relevant professional qualification with additional examinations, or
_    German subject-specific qualification for entrance to a university of applied sciences

Information concerning university admission and additional exams can be obtained from the relevant degree program administration.
Furthermore, students need to register. The following documents are required for the application:

•    Registration form with photograph
•    Letter of motivation
•    Curriculum Vitae
•    Copies of academic certificates
•    Copy of passport

In some degree programs (Media Design, Social Work, part-time degree programs) additional documents are required (e.g. essay, proof of employment). More details can be found on the applications website of the relevant degree program.
Successful applicants for a study place at Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences are informed by letter. Enrolment takes place at the beginning of the study program.

Membership fees for the Austrian Students’ Association: Per semester Euro 16,86. In order to secure an offered study place in a degree program, tuition fees for the first semester must be paid in full prior to the beginning of the semester.
Application deadline is May 15.

The application procedure for the Master degrees is similar. Applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree / a diploma degree in a related subject area. Applicants must send the following documents as part of their application:
•    Application form with photo
•    Letter of motivation
•    Curriculum vitae
•    Copy of secondary school leaving certificate
•    Copy of marks for bachelor studies
•    Copy of bachelor degree certificate
•     Copy of passport
•     Certified proof of proficiency in required languages
•     Portfolio (only InterMedia)
Admission to a master’s degree programme at Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences is determined by your bachelor’s degree marks as well as by an interview.

In general, the language of instruction at Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences is German. However, the university also offers courses taught in English. In the following semesters English is the language of instruction:

Student Exchanges and scholarships

The Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences has received three times in a row the E-Quality Label and in 2008 the Life Long Learning Award for its outstanding quality and performance in student mobility.  Additionally, in spring 2005 Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences was awarded the ECTS and the Diploma Supplement Label by the European Commission.
