Johannes Kepler University Linz

The Johannes Kepler University (JKU) in Linz is the largest academic institution in the federal state of Upper Austria. The university’s core areas include the Social Sciences, Economics and Business, Law as well as Engineering and Natural Sciences.  JKU currently offers 29 Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate programs. The university was founded in 1966 as an Academy for Social and Economic Sciences. The university campus accommodates approximately 14,000 students and employs over 2,000 faculty and staff.

Exchange Students

To enroll at the JKU as an official exchange student for either one semester, an academic year or even longer, you will need an official nomination issued by the international program coordinator at your home university, based on a formal exchange agreement between the JKU and your home university. JKU has more than 200 exchange partner universities throughout the world (in Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Australia). Financial Issues
By European standards, the cost of living in Austria is average. Basic costs for food and accommodation can be estimated between € 540 and € 670 per month.

Degree-Seeking International Students

The Winter Semester begins at the beginning of October and concludes at the end of January, the Summer Semester begins at the beginning of March and concludes at the end of June. Course registration always takes place before the semester begins.

International applicants must submit their application for admission no later than:
– September 1st for the Winter Semester
– February 1st for the Summer Semester.

Applicants from member states of the European Union and the EEA (European Economic Area) are exempt from the deadline above. We strongly advise international applicants to submit all required documents and materials in a timely manner before the beginning of the general Admission and Deadline dates (mid-September for the Winter Semester and mid-February for the Summer Semester).
