Description
The University of Oslo (UiO) is Norway’s largest institution of research and education with 28 000 students and 7000 employees. Its broad range of academic disciplines and internationally esteemed research communities make UiO an important contributor to society. The PhD position is linked to the research group in Work and Organizational Psychology. Research in this group covers areas such as organizational climate and work environment, organizational change, team effectiveness, employment relationships, human-technology-organization research and Human Resource Management practices.
The research groups aims to publish in international journals, but also produces studies that reflect a Norwegian tradition in work and organizational psychology. Mainly used research designs apply both quantitative and qualitative methods. The appointment is for a period of four years with 75 % research and 25 % teaching requirement. The fellowship period may be reduced if the candidate has previously been employed in a research fellowship position. The purpose of the appointment is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree. The successful candidate will be admitted to the research training program at the Faculty of Social Sciences when appointed for the position.
Eligibility
- The successful applicant must posses Master degree in Psychology or the equivalent, with a specialization in Work and Organizational Psychology, or in a related field, qualifying for admission to the Department’s PhD program;
- Applicants with grade points A or B on the ECTS scale on their Master’s Thesis will be qualified for admission to the PhD program;
- The candidate is able to document knowledge in internationally oriented Work and Organizational Psychology;
- In addition the candidate need to have good skills in scientific English, in spoken and written form, and strong competences in either qualitative or quantitative methods, applied in Work and Organizational Psychology.
Scholarship
- Salary based on salary grade 50-57 NOK 430,500 – 483,700 per year (EUR 48,228-54,188 ). Normally allocated pay grade 50 on appointment (depending on competence);
- Comprehensive PhD program;

- A project proposal for the PhD studies with a scientific argumentation, schedule and budget (5-10 pages);
- A supervisory agreement with a Professor or Associate Professor at the Department;

- The proposed project should be feasible within the four years of employment and the annual project costs should not exceed NOK 20,000, unless the applicant can prove funding from other sources.
