Simulation of UNESCO Corfu is the first simulation of UNESCO organized in Greece. UNESCO is an organization of the United Nations which works to create the conditions for dialogue among civilizations, cultures, and peoples, based upon respect for commonly shared values. It aims to the building of peace, the eradication of poverty, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue. UNESCO contributes towards the realisation of these goals through five major programmes: Education, Natural sciences, Social & Human sciences, Culture, Communication & Information. The aim of the project is to bring together young people and through the simulation of setting of these committees help them enhance their knowledge about UNESCO (how it works, its values and aims), understand how the international community deals with global issues and have a constructive debate.

Eligibility

The simulation is open to all young people without age limit.

However, the participants are requested to be well prepared and informed about the structure of UNESCO, the committees in which they will be assigned, the topic of each committee as well as the positions of the country they will be representing on these topics and last but not least the rules of procedure.

Costs

The participation fees are following:

  • Delegation fee: 25 euros;
  • Delegate fee: 30 euros;
  • Journalist fee: 25 euros;
  • Translator fee: 25 euros.

The fee includes the material that will be distributed, and the coffee and lunch breaks. Accommodation and travel expenses are not included, but prices of hostels are affordable.

Application

If you are interested to participate, you should fill in the online application form with your personal data, motivation, previous experience from the simulations and to choose your role, committees and countries you would like to represent.
