Description
Catalyst is a regional initiative launched in early 2013 to initiate the measurement of and create tools for promoting the growth and improved transparency of individual and corporate philanthropic culture in the Western Balkans.
Based in Belgrade, Serbia, Catalyst covers Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
With the ongoing efforts related to the flooding in Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia, Catalyst is mobilizing to track the unprecedented levels of giving, volunteerism and solidarity among people within the affected countries, from neighboring countries and from the diaspora and abroad.
Catalyst will be publishing a daily updated infographic that will track all of the flood-related giving taking place throughout the region.
The volunteer is asked to commit at least 20 hours per week for the next 4 weeks, and would be asked to some or all of the following:
- Tracking particular hashtags and harvesting data on giving and volunteerism.
- Making contact by e-mail or telephone with donors to verify information related to their donation
- Doing data entry of instances of giving gathered through our press clipping or through internet research
- Verifying or double-checking already entered data
- Translation
The placement will start on immediately and will last for at least 4 weeks. Volunteers can work out of the Catalyst office in Belgrade or can work from home.
Eligibility
Young people with experience in internet research, fact checking or data entry. While many through the region have been motivated to physically volunteer with physical labor or through providing direct assistance to displaced people, this is an opportunity for those wanting to volunteer their IT and critical thinking skills.
No compensation or benefits are available through this volunteer opportunity.
